Neighborhood Spotlight: Doin’ Good in Grand Rapids, Michigan Neighborhood

TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants, local owner and operator of Applebee’s® restaurants in the state of Michigan, has always been committed to Doin’ Good in the Neighborhood®. With the recent coronavirus pandemic causing a profound impact on our world, the restaurant team in Grand Rapids wanted to find a way to help the most vulnerable in their neighborhood get a good meal. The team partnered with Mel Trotter Ministries, whose mission is to support anyone experiencing hunger and homelessness and were honored to donate 150 free meals to those at the ministries’ Mission.
TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants and its Applebee’s restaurant teams give back to the communities they serve throughout the year. Specifically, through theirDine to Donatefundraising program they are able to support local non-profit organizations, schools and sports teams by donating 20% of the proceeds on event days.Throughthisprogram, TEAM Schostak was able to help pay off student lunch debtsatlocal schools on “Make a Difference Day”lastfall. With the help of Michigan sports partners,theirHome Town Hero Program rewards a local veteran or active military member with an Applebee’s experienceincluding a sporting event andan Applebee’s gift card.They also raise money throughout the year to supportMake-a-WishFoundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Muscular Dystrophy Association, and Susan G. Komen.
While being agreatneighbor,beinginvolved andgivingback are part of TEAM Schostak’s Core Value of Community, thefranchisee alsohas the TSFR Care Fund.This program is funded by donations fromteammembers andprovides financial assistance to colleagues whohave experienced a catastrophic life event.
